TRADITIONAL leaders and their subjects in Malambo Constituency in Eastern Province have said they are still waiting for an apology from Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata for allegedly saying that President Banda was tarring the Chipata-Mfuwe road where animals live.
And Government has spent over K1.5 billion on the implementation of various developmental projects in Malambo Constituency.
MMD Malambo member of Parliament Maxwell Mwale said in an interview on January 25 in Lusaka that the people in his constituency are still waiting for Mr Sata’s apology over the statement he made last year that President Banda is tarring the Chipata-Mfuwe road where animals live.
“I’m just coming from Malambo Constituency on a tour of developmental projects. The traditional leaders and their people are upset with Mr Sata, and are still waiting for his apology after he said that President Banda is tarring the Chipata-Mfuwe road where animals live.
“The road is very important to the development process of Zambia. Tourism and commerce will improve, and it will enhance farming activities,” he said.
Mr Mwale, who is also Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, said people in his constituency are disappointed that Mr Sata has allegedly failed to apologise to them.
He said people have vowed that they will not waste their time supporting politicians such as Mr Sata who have continued issuing derogatory remarks against the MMD government.
He said Mr Sata’s statement was in bad taste because it demeaned them.
“Mr Sata will not see any vote from the area. The people are upset with him. They want President Banda to continue in office because they have seen how committed he is when it comes to issues of development.
“The people are happy that Government, under President Banda, is taking development to all parts of the country. It is worrying that some opposition political leaders have continued being arrogant,” he said.
Mr Mwale said people in the area are behind the candidature of President Banda during this year’s tripartite elections.
He said over K1.5 billion has been spent on various developmental projects in Malambo Constituency.
Mr Mwale said Government is in a hurry to develop the country, and it will continue implementing viable projects that are aimed at eradicating poverty in various communities
