CONSTRUCTION of 438 National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) houses at a total cost of K 220 billion in Kalulushi is set to start after the contractor, Yangts Jiang Enterprises moved on site on Monday.
NAPSA director-in-charge of investments Joseph Ngosa said the project is expected to be completed in May 2012.

Mr Ngosa said the project is targeted at empowering Zambians and he called on members of the public to support Government efforts to develop Zambia.
Speaking in an interview after NAPSA officials handed over the site to the contractor, Mr Ngosa said that his office is pleased that the construction of the 438 houses will start soon.
He said the availability of the houses will go a long way in easing accommodation problems on the Copperbelt.
Mr Ngosa said NAPSA is confident that the contractor will construct the houses according to instructions.
“This is one of the many projects that we are undertaking countrywide to empower Zambians. We have confidence that the contractor will do a quality job that will satisfy both parties,” he said.
“Many people are faced with accommodation problems, we hope that the construction of 438 houses will go a long way in easing accommodation problems facing our people,” Mr Ngosa said.
He urged Kalulushi residents to desist from vandalising the infrastructure.
“Let me take this opportunity to appeal to our brothers and sisters here in Kalulushi to support the contractor and avoid vandalising infrastructure. We need to work together to develop the country,” he said.
And Kalulushi district commissioner Joshua Mutisa said construction of the houses will add beauty to the mining town.
Mr Mutisa noted that the project will also create employment for the local people.
He said government is happy that NAPSA has continued implementing viable projects that are empowering Zambians.
“We want to assure NAPSA of a ready market and maximum security and it has come to the right place,” he said.
And Yangts Jiang Enterprises managing director Xu Xue announced that the project has started and that it will be completed on time.
“They must be assured of real quality and we are going to do a good job that will make everyone happy.
They will not regret ever having picked on us to do this job because we have done a lot of similar projects in Zambia which have been approved by relevant authorities. We are going to complete this project in two and half years,” Mr Xu said.
